Hi,
I hope you’re well.
I’m not great with titling emails, but it’s a cross I’m willing to bear.
This week has been quite full on with comic-y goodness. I’ve just sent off the emails for ‘Sparks and the Fallen Star’ and ‘Robyn #4’ to be printed. I find little as tiring than proofing books over and over, and two in one week was a little exhausting. Still, they’re on their way!
I also received an email saying Diamond Comics have set up an account with BookSource (our book distributor), so the orders for Mountains of Madness and Gone Volume One which were placed via Diamond a few weeks ago can now be fulfilled. This also opens the path up to future Blue Fox books being available via Diamond. This means you’ll be able to go into your local comic store and order them!
Seventh Sister
I wanted to show you some art which has come in for a comic series I’m going to be pitching soon. The fantastic Majory Yokomizo (Fishing Memories) is the artist, and the series will be called ‘Seventh Sister’.
A small excerpt of some of the pencils is below.
Bunker
And whilst we’re talking about pitches, I’ve also received the inks from Claudia Balboni (Fairlady) for the sci-fi comic series ‘Bunker’ pitch.
An excerpt is shown below.
Darja Rattik, who supplied colours for Jimmy’s Vendetta, will be colouring these pages, too.
The Shadow Over Innsmouth Part Three
You may also have seen some inks come in for the last part of ‘The Shadow Over Innsmouth’, which we’re planning on Kickstarting in April. Art by RHStewart.
Another excerpt shown below.
I’m looking forward to seeing the finished pages!
RHStewart also has a Kickstarter running at the moment for his fan made, tarot deck featuring 22 major arcana inspired by the 1986 film ALIENS.
A selection of the cards can be seen below.
If you’re a fan of his work and/or Aliens, check out the campaign using the button below.
Buy & Hold
Looking at the poll I sent out earlier this week, 67% of the respondents were interested in a ‘buy and hold’ reward type on our Kickstarter campaigns, so we can cut down on postage and (perhaps) other costs. I’ll definitely be adding that option onto the February campaign, which will be for Clodagh #2.
Innsmouth: The Stolen Child
We’re awaiting some refreshed quotes (paper prices, who’d have thought?), and hopefully, with a fair wind, we’ll be pressing the print button next week.
Misc.
I’ve been busy reading comics (not as regular occurrence as I’d like). Really enjoyed ‘Something is Killing the Children’ Vol 1-3. I’ve also read ‘Home Sick Pilots’ Vol 1, which looks lovely, but didn’t have the emotional hooks for me. Read Ram V’s and Anand RK’s ‘Blue in Green’, which I liked very much.
TV & films, enjoyed ‘Don’t Look Up’, ‘tick, tick, Boom’, ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘Strictly Ballroom’. Loved ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ with David Tennant, laughed along with ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ and started watching ‘Mythic Quest’.
As I’m sure you’re aware by now, ‘The Thing on the Doorstep Part One’ is currently on Kickstarter. Feel free to take a look by clicking or tapping the link above.
Have a great weekend!
Speak soon and stay safe,
Simon
Hi Simon, Man you are so busy! Just wanted to say "Around the world in 80 days", loved and best title sequence in a long while!
