Hi,
I hope you’re well!
Now, I’ve never said that I’m an overly ordered person, and that’s okay with me. I do understand, however, that it’s nice to have a little consistency - so, the plan going forward will be to release a newsletter every two weeks (usually on a Tuesday), and an episode of the Wildly Inconsistent Podcast on the weeks in-between.
I’m genuinely looking forward to it!
Speaking of the podcast…
Marielle and Simon’s Wildly Inconsistent Podcast
I’ve been working away on getting the podcast out on most available platforms, starting with the latest episode, Episode 7 - if you’ve not listened to it yet, it’s probably our best one yet!
Blue Fox Linktr.ee
I’ve also been working on our Linktr.ee page, which very helpfully has built-in functionality for you to access our Podcast on multiple platforms (including Apple). You can also find all the social and contact links for Blue Fox over there, at the top of the screen.
Kickstarter News
Thanks to everyone who backed The InSpectres Volume One - we finished very strongly, and creators Jarod Roe and David Flores were very appreciative!
Our next campaign will be for ‘At Last the Light’ - our Scottish Gothic horror comic which will come in three translations in one 80+ page book - English, Modern Scots, and Old Scots.
Ben Edwards, who wrote and drew our Nemo comic, has a new Kickstarter campaign starting imminently. It’s for a comic called Hornets - and you can sign up to be notified on launch using the link below.
Conventions
We’ve attended our first two conventions of 2023!
The first was for ACME Comic Con, at the SEC in Glasgow - it’s very pleasant attending a con so close! It went very well, and we can’t wait for the next ACME con, which will be a later this year.
The second was Airecon Analog Gaming Convention in Harrogate. Fortunately, it was held in the same place as ThoughtBubble was, so we know the area well. It was a great three days, and everyone was very friendly! We were primarily selling our gamebooks, but we snuck some comics in there too!
We’re still waiting to hear about MCM London - it’s in May so hopefully it won’t be too long until we know if we’ve got a table or not.
Comics
Willi’s been working on pages for The Thing on the Doorstep Part Three - it’s not finished yet, mainly because he’s also working on our book which will be coming out through Top Cow and Image in July. That’s very exciting, and I’ll let you know more about it as soon as I’m allowed!
Daria Rattik is working on issue 1 of Cool Air, my adaptation/interpretation of the Lovecraft short story. I’ve seen some of the roughs, and it’s looking amazing!
Whilst I’m here, I wanted to remind you that most of our graphic novels and gamebooks are available through UK bookshops, as well as our online shop. We support our local indie bookshop, as well as other bookshops when we travel around. You never know, they might already stock our books!
Discount Code
We’re offering a whopping 50% off The Girl in the Midnight Gown graphic novel - both physical and digital editions - for the next 2 weeks only.
To claim the discount, head on over to our store, and use the following code at checkout.
1J2E3WDZAD2N
The code is valid until 11:59pm on 28th March.
Gamebooks
The final images for the Branching Narrative book have arrived and I will be scheduling in the Kickstarter soon.
It’s fair to say that whenever I’m at a convention and people mention how much they like the adventures, it immediately makes me want to sit and write more. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do another one this year. Fingers crossed!
(Also, I’m toying with writing a shorter game type ‘thing’ - but we’ll see.)
Thank You
That’s all for this newsletter - please contact us if you have any questions. Also, a quick reminder to check out our latest podcast episode on Substack, or on any of the podcast platforms (including Apple) using the link in our Linktr.ee. And like, subscribe and comment, too. We’re only small, but then so are acorns.
Speak soon and stay safe,
Simon
