Hi,
I hope you’re well.
Nothing lasts forever, right?
Yesterday, Kickstarter came out with some news you may have heard about moving to a block chain platform in 2022. Click the button below to read the blog post.
A lot of creators and backers are unhappy, because of the global implications of the technology, its less than perfect reputation, what NFTs have meant to their art and more.
I come from a background in IT, and whilst not specifically anything to do with this tech, it doesn’t seem like something that is needed. I've written a couple of emails to Kickstarter, asking if they could roll back this decision, and they will have received similar communications from many other creators.
I’ve set up a simple poll to get your initial feedback on whether you’d still be happy to use Kickstarter if they implemented the change. Access it by clicking the button below.
As previous backers and supporters of our projects, I’m looking forward to seeing what you think.
Speak soon and stay safe,
Simon
It just seems like they are jumping on the blockchain bandwagon and the "do-to-earn" angle that is becoming more and more prevalent. Personally, I don't immediately see what the value in this change will be but I have only begun dipping my toes into crypto/blockchain space. I also have almost no interest in NFTs although that is likely due to all of the lazy cash-grabs I am aware of out there. Ultimately, this change likely wouldn't stop me from using the platform to support crowdfunding campaigns.
