On Monday, we launched the Kickstarter for the fifth and final issue of our dark fantasy horror comic, Clodagh.

It’s been quite a journey, with the first draft being written in 2017, the first issue drawn by Willi Roberts in 2019, and the first issue Kickstarted in 2021, with letters by Rob Jones. Though the story has been revised regularly, the core of it remained - one woman’s fight to save her new family in the face of rejection by everyone.

Now, in issue 5, we come to the showdown - Clodagh, Fillin and Aine at the self-named witch’s castle with her army of brainwashed hulks. Whenever I reread the scripts or the comics themselves, I’m proud of the story I wrote. It’s got real heart, with each protagonist trying to do the right thing in intensely stressful situations.

Clodagh has her skill and experience. Fillin has his passion and resolve. Aine has her spirit and cunning. Together, they are unstoppable, but apart they must play to their strengths and adapt. This is a story of heroes doing their best in the face of villains just being dicks for the sake of it. A timeless tale, it turns out.
